Treating Cold Sores
Zovirax Cold Sore Cream can stop a cold sore from becoming visible, if it is used at the 'tingle stage' (See below, the tingle phase refers to when you feel a tingling, itching or burning feeling). Zovirax Cold Sore Cream includes the antiviral agent called aciclovir. Zovirax Cold Sore Cream comes as a tube. With Zovirax you can stop cold sores even sooner than they start!
This tingle means that the cold sore is on it's way. It's essential to use Zovirax Cold Sore Cream without delay as this stage may only last for twenty four hours.
Once the cold sore has already started, can Zovirax still be used?
Yes, but once the cold sore has pierced through the skin, healing can take up to ten to twelve days. By applying Zovirax at the beginning stages of a cold sore, the healing time can be hurried up by days. This means that if a cold sore does appear continue to use Zovirax until the cold sore is completely gone.
Cold Sore Phases There are four phases of a cold sore.
Tingle Phase / Day one The skin tingles and itches and you realise a cold sore is on its way. Care for this symptom with Zovirax Cold Sore Cream and you may stop the cold sore from appearing all together. Keep in mind, when you sense the tingle, the cold sore is on its way. This phase will probably only last twenty four hours so it is important to use Zovirax Cold Sore Cream straight away.
Blister Phase / Days - two to four A small, raised blotch swells and forms a sore single blister or multiple blisters. Once the blister first breaks through the skin, healing can take up to ten to twelve days. Use Zovirax Cold Sore Cream at this phase and you could speed the process by days. Carry on using it if your cold sore does develop.
Weeping Phase / Days - five to eight The blisters collapse and bond to form a big, weeping sore. The Cold Sore can spread very effortlessly at this phase. Many people find this the most awkward phase.
Scab Phase / Days nine to twelve The blisters start to dry and heal and a scab starts to form.
